The IPU is working in collaboration with researchers at University College Cork on the Medicine Shortages Survey for 2026. This survey is designed to capture more detailed insights into the operational and patient impacts of shortages in Irish community pharmacy practice. Subject to the appropriate approvals, the findings from this research are intended to contribute to a peer-reviewed publication, helping to ensure that the experiences of Irish community pharmacies inform the wider international evidence base on medicine shortages.
This is one of the most important surveys conducted annually by the IPU. The insights our member pharmacists share are essential in guiding our advocacy work and ensuring that the realities faced in community pharmacy are clearly represented at national and international level.
