Use Cases
Healthmail is a communication tool, the number of use cases will increase as the tool is adopted. In community pharmacy, Healthmail may be used to communicate patient identifiable information such as in the following scenarios:
Pharmacy to Pharmacy
• Exchanging patient records
• Notification of forged prescriptions
• Notification of suspicious transactions
Pharmacy to GP
• Notification to a patient’s GP of vaccination
• Notification to GP of unlicensed status of medicines
• Non urgent query to GP
GP to Pharmacy
• Prescription clarification
Pharmacy to Hospital
• Notification of a patient’s current medication
• PMR report containing patient information
Hospital to Pharmacy
• Notification of therapy (not prescription). Used where medicines are supplied by hospital directly so that pharmacy can take note of interactions, etc.
Pharmacy to HSE
• Application to the HSE for approval to supply non-PCRS reimbursable medicines to HAA patients
• Patient specific scheme query
• Requested PMR reports containing patient information
• Requested copy of a prescription
HSE to Pharmacy
• HSE alert notifications to pharmacy (local prescription alerts etc.)
• HSE notification to pharmacy for agreement to supply High Tech medicine
• HSE approval of hardship application to pharmacy
• Patient specific query
